Mastoidectomy is the removal of disease from the mastoid air cells.

The primary cause of ear infection is

  • Recurrent URTI.
  • Eustachian tube blockade and dysfuction.

Symptoms of Chronic Ear Infection which might need Mastoidectomy are

  • Recurrent ear discharge.
  • Decrease hearing.
  • Ear pain.
  • Foul smelling discharge.

Mastoidectomy is a daycare/one day admission surgery Done under general or local anaesthesia. The ENT Surgeon will Removal the disease and prevent reoccurrence  of the infection.

  • Disease free ear.
  • Prevention of complications of disease which are serious and sometimes life threatening.
  • Improvement in hearing.
  • Similar to other ear surgeries.

  • Water precautions and prevention of URTI till healing.

  • Long term goal is – Disease free ear.
